Door had been kicked in and patched. The sign outside claimed that the rooms had been 'renovated' which appeared to consist of painting the walls and putting in a new sink & bath. There were paint drips all over the tv and furniture, and half the walls were clad in ancient grooved plywood which had simply been painted over. No drawers, the furniture was all crooked or damaged, and the heater so loud that I had to turn it off at night to actually get to sleep. A police officer I spoke to on my second day in Kingston laughed when I told him where I was staying, saying that they do most of the arrests in and around that motel, as it is a popular spot for working girls to take their clients, and for drug users. The neighbourhood is a war zone, and miles from anywhere. There are at least a hundred better places to stay in Kingston.
